BRUSSELS, July 8: The European Union on Wednesday condemned Iran's attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as unacceptable and warning that continued military exchanges between the United States and Iran are undermining efforts to end the conflict.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the Iranian attacks on the two Gulf states were unacceptable and called for renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.
Kallas also expressed concern that the ongoing exchange of strikes between Washington and Tehran was complicating international efforts to secure a lasting end to the conflict.
To address the growing regional tensions, she announced that EU foreign ministers will meet with their counterparts from countries bordering the Persian Gulf next Monday.
The meeting will focus on supporting the implementation of the existing agreement aimed at reducing tensions and on safeguarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, two of the world's most strategically important maritime trade routes.
The planned talks come amid heightened security concerns across the Gulf, with repeated attacks and military exchanges raising fears of wider regional instability and potential disruptions to global shipping and energy supplies.
