COLOGNE, Jun 24: The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has advised airlines to continue avoiding airspace over Iran, Iraq and Lebanon, despite a framework agreement between the United States and Iran.
In a conflict-zone advisory issued on Wednesday, EASA warned that short-term ceasefire violations remain possible, particularly in and around the Strait of Hormuz and nearby airspace.
The agency extended its regional advisory until July 1 , citing ongoing security concerns and the risk of renewed military activity.
EASA also pointed to the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah as a continuing threat to flights over Lebanon.
The agency urged airlines to carefully assess potential risks when operating in or near the airspace of Bahrain, Kuwait, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia .
The warning highlights continued aviation safety concerns across the region, even as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran move forward.
