KUWAIT CITY, May 12: In a joint security operation reflecting close cooperation between the State of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, authorities successfully apprehended a fugitive who had escaped after being sentenced in a criminal case, to complete the remainder of his prison term.
The Ministry of Interior said the arrest was carried out through coordinated efforts and exchange of information between security agencies in both countries, leading to the suspect’s detention and his handover at the Salmi Border Crossing.
Kuwait expressed its appreciation to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, headed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud, for its swift response and effective cooperation in tracking and apprehending the convict. Officials said the operation reflects the strong and longstanding security partnership between the two countries.
Authorities confirmed that a special investigation committee has been formed to determine the circumstances that allowed the prisoner to exit Kuwait. Legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible, stressing that the law applies equally to all individuals without exception.
