New company headquarters recognized for its design and construction

EQUATE’s new headquarter

KUWAIT CITY, May 20: EQUATE’s new headquarters, a refl ection of the company’s efforts to implement its sustainability strategy by 2025, recently earned Kuwait’s first LEED-Silver Building Design & Construction (BD+C) certification for its compliance with the US Green Building Council LEED program, thus becoming a pioneer for green buildings in Kuwait.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and provides an international framework to establish healthy, efficient and cost-saving green buildings. EQUATE’s headquarter, extending over 16,500 square meters, is the first building in Kuwait to receive the LEED-Silver (BD+C) certification for its design and construction.

Commenting on this achievement, Engineering & Construction Department Director Sulaiman Albader said, “From the initial design of this new headquarter, we set our sights on making a difference in the green building movement. Our building conserves energy consumption through the reduction of water usage by 36%, utilizes solar energy to generate around 8% of the total building consumption, and achieves energy cost savings of 26%, all of which make it an ideal green building in Kuwait.

This achievement and all others were realized through the performance excellence of our human capital who deserve utmost appreciation and gratitude.” The EQUATE Group is a global producer of petrochemicals and the world’s second largest producer of Ethylene Glycol (EG).
