KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Kuwaiti Fencing Federation is set to host the International Satellite World Cup for saber weapons at the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee headquarters in Jaber Al-Ahmad City. This event will see the participation of an array of international athletes hailing from various corners of the globe. Abdulkarim Al-Shamlan, the President of the Kuwaiti Fencing Federation, affirmed that the “Satellite” World Cup is a prominent fixture in the International Fencing Federation’s calendar, attracting top-tier talent from diverse countries worldwide.

Al-Shamlan elaborated that the Federation strategically scheduled this tournament following the conclusion of the 19th Asian Games, ensuring that participants would be well-prepared to compete on their home turf, supported by their fans. The primary goal is to advance to the final rounds, secure medals, and accrue points crucial for the direct qualification of players for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also noted that Yousef Al- Shamlan, the Asian Games bronze medalist, is in close contention for qualification in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Al-Shamlan will partake in several upcoming tournaments over the next few months to accumulate the necessary points for qualification. Al-Shamlan further disclosed that the tournament will see participation from no fewer than 15 countries, each contributing highly skilled fencers. This ensures that the competition will be fierce, with numerous accomplished athletes boasting impressive technical abilities vying for medals and points to secure their spots in the 2024 Paris Olympics
