KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Environment Public Authority (EPA) confirmed the extension of licenses for designated smoking areas, reports Al- Rai daily. According to EPA, this step is in view of the global and local conditions as a result of the coronavirus crisis and directive of the concerned authority to compensate those affected during the lockdown — owners of commercial establishments especially the restaurants and cafés where smoking is permitted.

Due to circumstances beyond one’s control, EPA decided to extend the validity of the license for the aforementioned places. It clarified that the decision covers the owners of restaurants and cafés, and those who obtained a license for smoking during the lockdown; indicating the period of damage is determined once the relevant authorities issue a decision on full resumption of business activities.

The concerned parties must visit the authority to submit the previous license for review and issuance of extension if the conditions are met.
