KUWAIT CITY, April 23: Director General of Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad revealed about a new condition for issuance of road license for vehicles which will be introduced in the beginning of 2019.

In a TV interview, he affirmed that a certificate from the authority should be presented to prove the emissions from the vehicle are not harmful to the environment. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad said, “A mechanism will be set in place to organize the process through which the authority will issue certificate to car owners, and General Traffic Department will then be addressed to approve the renewal of road licenses”.

“Vehicle owners will not be able to renew the road license for their vehicles without certification from EPA”, he affirmed. Sheikh Abdullah explained that the new condition will be implemented on everyone.

The objective is to remove from the roads vehicles that harm the environment and cause noise pollution. He called on the public “to immediately report any bus that causes environmental pollution in one way or another”.

Also, Sheikh Abdullah announced that EPA will issue citations against those who paint the exterior of their houses using colors that can harm the eyes, as well as those who hang their clothes for drying outside their houses.

He revealed that the fines for such violations will range between KD 150 and KD 500, stressing that officers of EPA have power to arrest the violators
