KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: In a recent statement, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Kuwait and China. This includes significant progress on the implementation of seven agreements signed during His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad’s visit to China last September.

Zhang made these comments during the ‘A Moonment to Remember in Kuwait’, a cultural festival organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in collaboration with the American University of the Middle East (AUM). The cultural event, attended by dignitaries including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Mishaal, and numerous diplomats, featured performances by the Chinese acrobatic troupe.

This troupe showcased traditional Chinese culture with vibrant performances, complemented by a photo exhibition and demonstrations of cultural practices such as tea ceremonies and weaving. The Chinese envoy also took the opportunity to visit the Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum, underscoring the importance of continued cultural and diplomatic engagement. He expressed gratitude to AUM and its President, Dr. George Al- Yahchouchi, for their support in organizing the event. Zhang said that as the Mid- Autumn Festival approaches, this cultural exchange further cements the deepening friendship between China and Kuwait, highlighting the shared commitment to peace and cooperation.

During the event, he highlighted the high-level visit to Kuwait by a delegation from the Chinese CCC company is seen as a crucial step in advancing the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, as well as other initiatives related to renewable energy and additional projects. The ambassador explained that CCC, a leading global company with extensive experience in port construction and operation, is now conducting comprehensive surveys of the port. This follows a hiatus in the project due to natural changes over the past decade.

Zhang expressed optimism that the construction process would soon commence after thorough technical studies and fieldwork. In addition to the port project, Zhang revealed that the Chinese delegation also discussed renewable energy projects, reflecting ongoing cooperation in this sector. The ambassador emphasized the mutual commitment of both parties to expedite the implementation of these agreements.
