Record high electrical load recorded amid rising temperatures.

KUWAIT CITY, May 29: This afternoon, the electrical load index soared to unprecedented levels, hitting a record high of 15,411 megawatts at 3 p.m. The surge comes as temperatures climb, reaching a scorching 47 degrees Celsius. Sources within the Ministry of Electricity have confirmed to "Al-Jarida" that measures are being taken to ensure sufficient energy reserves to meet the escalating demand during peak hours.

With forecasts projecting peak loads to reach 17,600 megawatts this summer, the Ministry is actively preparing to address the heightened energy demands. Plans are underway to integrate an additional 500 megawatts from the Gulf network, following the signing of a purchase contract. This injection of power is slated to commence at the onset of June, providing much-needed relief to the network as temperatures continue to rise, potentially hitting 50 degrees Celsius.
