KUWAIT CITY, Apr 13: The Public Authority of Manpower said it has referred an employer and relevant company officials, including the executive manager, to the General Department of Criminal Investigation (Residency Affairs Investigation), following indicators and suspicions related to employment practices, recruitment, and the use of workers. The move is part of ongoing legal proceedings following an incident involving large groups of workers.

According to the Authority, its emergency response and collective complaints teams operate around the clock in coordination with the Ministry of Interior to handle reports swiftly and protect the rights of all parties involved. It reiterated that it continues to take legal action against violators and completes investigations in coordination with competent authorities.

The Authority stated that it received a report from the Public Security Sector about a gathering of more than 400 workers. Teams from the Labor Relations Department and the field complaints unit were dispatched to the site, where the gathering was brought under control and dispersed in coordination with security authorities.

Officials interviewed several workers to determine the cause of the gathering and the reported collective work stoppage. The Authority said the incident stemmed from disputes between a group of workers and their employers. As a result, the employer was summoned, and precautionary measures were taken to safeguard workers’ rights while investigations continued.

The following day, the Authority reported another gathering of around 300 workers outside its headquarters. This assembly was also dispersed in coordination with security authorities, and further statements were taken from workers to clarify the circumstances and nature of the complaint.

The Authority urged employers and workers to strictly adhere to signed contracts and labor laws, and to use official channels to resolve disputes rather than resorting to collective work stoppages or regulatory violations.
