KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: The Court of Appeal’s Second Circuit, headed by Counselor Nasr Salem Al-Haid and joined by Counselors Mutab Al-Aradhi and Saud Al-Sane, has overturned the life sentence of an employee accused of embezzling funds from an airline company in which Kuwait Airways holds a stake.
The court resentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of KD 2.999 million, equivalent to the amount allegedly embezzled.
A second defendant received a 7-year prison sentence, while the court upheld the acquittal of three other defendants.
Additionally, the court suspended the trial proceedings for defendants who had previously been convicted in absentia and sentenced to life imprisonment, pending their appearance before the judiciary.
