Floral tributes paid to statue of Mahatma Gandhi

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 74th Independence Day of India on Saturday, Aug 15, 2020, says a press release issued by the embassy. Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations were held in consonance with the COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

The official program was held from 0800 to 0900 hrs at the embassy premises. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi followed by unfurling of the National ‘Tricolor’ amidst singing of the Indian National Anthem and patriotic songs. On this happy occasion, the message president of India to the nation was read out.

A link to the video recording of the entire program will be shared on the embassy’s website and social media handles and will be hosted on embassy’s official YouTube channel in due course. In the run up to the Independence Day celebrations, the embassy organized various online activities, including Daily Online Quizzes; Essay, Elocution and Drawing/ Painting competitions for school children; and Patriotic Song Competition, with wide participation from the Indian community in Kuwait.
