KUWAIT CITY, March 5: In light of the ongoing security developments in the region, some embassies issued statements and guidelines for their citizens, urging them to adhere to the instructions of the Kuwaiti authorities and to follow all recommended safety and precautionary measures.
These embassies expressed their appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti government to maintain security and stability in the country.
The Canadian Embassy issued guidelines for Canadian citizens wishing to leave the country due to the unstable security situation, ongoing military activities, and the possibility of a sudden deterioration in the regional situation. It added that if they choose to leave Kuwait and are certain that it is safe to do so, the following land borders with Saudi Arabia are currently open: Nuwaiseeb–Al-Ruqai and Al-Salmi–Al-Khafji. It stressed the importance of ensuring that all required documents are in order before traveling, including a valid passport, visa (Canadians can obtain a visa upon arrival), and civil identification card for residents. It urged its citizens to comply with the instructions of the Kuwaiti authorities and to remain in safe locations
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan asked its citizens to fully comply with the safety instructions and guidelines issued by Kuwaiti authorities. In a statement, the embassy affirmed that it is closely monitoring the security situation in Kuwait and the whole region, indicating that Kuwaiti airspace has been closed since Feb 28 due to the regional developments. It emphasized the importance of following official statements issued by the Kuwaiti authorities and the embassy announcements, as well as abiding by the instructions and guidelines issued by the relevant authorities. It stressed the need to refrain from circulating or believing rumors and unofficial information. It advised its citizens to remain in their homes and not to leave except when absolutely necessary, and to immediately seek shelter in enclosed and safe spaces upon hearing air raid sirens or explosions. It warned about the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance or shrapnel resulting from air defense operations. It urged Azerbaijani citizens in Kuwait to contact it through the hotline in case of an emergency.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the State of Kuwait Carlos Jiménez called on members of the Peruvian community in the country to remain calm and not be swayed by anxiety or rumors, stressing that the situation in Kuwait remains stable despite the recent regional developments. In a statement addressed to his fellow citizens, the ambassador said that it is natural for concerns to increase due to the recent events, but the situation does not warrant excessive worry or succumbing to panic. He stressed the importance of following official instructions and paying attention to warning signs. He said the citizens should take basic precautions, such as following alerts issued through official channels and social media, verifying circulating information, and avoiding being influenced by unconfirmed reports. He urged citizens to immediately seek shelter indoors if they hear sirens or notice flying objects. He also advised citizens to carry their mobile phones at all times, ensure that all family members have a means of communication, and contact their relatives once they reach a safe location. He affirmed that the embassy and its consular section continue to operate and are closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing that the safety of Peruvian citizens in Kuwait remains the top priority of the embassy.
