KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30: In a rather amusing turn of events, an elderly man fell prey to a scam orchestrated by an expatriate. The unsuspecting senior handed over 23,000 dinars, thinking he was investing in a garage and receiving assistance for his marriage plans with a young woman. However, the outcome was quite different from his expectations, as he found himself without the promised garage and any progress toward marriage.

According to details provided by a security source, a man in his sixties filed a report at a Hawalli Governorate police station recounting his experience of fraud and deceit. He described how he had entered into an agreement with an expatriate to jointly venture into a car repair garage, providing the individual with an initial sum of 13,000 dinars. To compound the deception, the expatriate later proposed a matrimonial arrangement for the elderly man, demanding an additional 10,000 dinars. Trustingly, the victim handed over the money, only to have the accused disappear after pocketing the substantial sum and disconnecting the phone. The source added that the accused’s name has been added to arrest lists, signaling the commencement of investigations into charges related to fraud.
