KUWAIT CITY, March 20: Eid Al-Rashidi, who plays for Iraqi club Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, has returned to Kuwait following instructions from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Baghdad due to the ongoing regional instability.

The move was taken to ensure the player’s safety, as recent events in the region have also led to a suspension of sports activities in Kuwait, with clubs halting daily training sessions.

Both the Asian Football Confederation and the Gulf Football Federation have postponed all competitions until further notice. This includes the Kuwait vs. Al-Shabab Oman quarterfinals in the Asian Challenge League, Al-Qadsia vs. Al-Rayyan semifinals in the Gulf Club Champions Cup, and fixtures in the AFC Champions League.

Upon returning, Eid posted on his personal X account:

"Praise is to God for my return to my homeland. I was evacuated by order of the Kuwaiti Embassy, and I sincerely thank them."

He added: "We pray for stability in the region and hope the situation calms soon so I can return to Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and continue my journey with the club."

Eid’s agent, Dagheem Al-Rashidi, confirmed the return was coordinated with the club, and Eid will resume playing in Iraq once conditions improve.

The 26-year-old joined Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya on a contract until June, transferring from Al-Qadsia for approximately $140,000, split between the player and his former club. Upon signing, Eid described the club as “a big team with a distinguished history and high-level performance,” calling the move “an important challenge and a strong motivation to give my best.” He also thanked Al-Qadsia fans for their support.

Eid is the first Kuwaiti player to compete professionally in the Iraqi league. Since joining Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, the team has won all seven matches, with Eid contributing one goal and three assists.

He has quickly adapted to his new squad, benefiting from the guidance of Omani coach Rashid Jaber and the presence of Nigerian player Daniel Gibbola, with whom he previously played at Al-Qadsia. Eid has also formed a strong partnership with Omani forward Issam Al-Subhi, helping the team secure multiple victories.
