TARANTO, Italy, Aug 30: Egypt added three more medals on Saturday to take its overall tally to 36 at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy.

The latest haul included a silver medal in table tennis and two bronze medals in judo.

Omar Assar and Hana Goda secured silver in the mixed doubles after suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to Turkey’s Yeginler and Harac in the final.

The Egyptian duo reached the final after beating Greece 3-2 in the round of 16, Slovenia 3-2 in the quarterfinals, and France 3-1 in the semifinals.

In judo, Safa Soliman won bronze in the women’s over-78kg category after defeating Tunisia’s Souar Al-Dhouadi 12-0 in the third-place match.

Hady Hussein also claimed bronze in the men’s over-100kg division, beating Croatia’s Mikita Svirid by ippon in the bronze-medal bout.

The three medals lifted Egypt’s total to 36, including 11 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze.
