Egyptian Sentenced for Forgery and Bribery in Residency Application Scandal

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: The Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Nasr Salem Al-Heid, sentenced an Egyptian employee in the Ministry of Justice to five years in prison for tampering with judicial rulings and entering incorrect data to releasing defendants, thereby, making them believe that rulings were issued in their favor in exchange for bribes, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The same court sentenced an expatriate to 10 years in person who, along with other individuals, forged blood samples of expatriates suffering from contagious diseases in exchange for bribes to complete their residency applications. The defendant was convicted in absentia. The court also sentenced three other employees to 10 years in jail with hard labor for forging and tampering with the analysis of blood samples to obtain residency permits for a number of expatriates, so the total number of individuals convicted in this case reached four.
