Egyptian Guard and Kuwaiti Woman Caught in Kuwait Hospital Stamp Scam

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27:  Kuwait's Criminal Security Affairs Sector has arrested an Egyptian expat and a female Kuwaiti citizen for allegedly selling and using counterfeit government stamps and misappropriating fees owed to the state. The arrests were made by the Criminal Police Department following investigations into the illegal use of counterfeit government stamps at a government hospital, where both suspects were working.

According to the Ministry of Interior, investigators first arrested the Egyptian expat, who was working as a security guard at the hospital. He was found in possession of several counterfeit government stamps during the operation.

During questioning, the first suspect provided information that led authorities to the second suspect, a Kuwaiti woman working at the same hospital. She was subsequently arrested and found in possession of additional counterfeit government stamps.

Investigators also documented the woman carrying out a transaction using a duplicate/counterfeit government stamp in exchange for money, according to the ministry.

During interrogation, the second suspect reportedly confessed to exploiting her position at the hospital for financial gain. She allegedly processed official transactions using counterfeit stamps while retaining the genuine stamps for reuse in other transactions.

She also admitted to removing previously used genuine stamps from stored documents and reusing them in new transactions, according to the Ministry of Interior.

Authorities seized the counterfeit stamps and other items linked to the alleged offenses. The two suspects and the seized materials were referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that security authorities continue to monitor and investigate attempts to exploit government procedures for financial gain and to protect public funds and official documents from fraud and misuse.
