KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: An Egyptian expatriate filed a theft report at Abu Halifa Police Station after his wife discovered that gold jewelry and cash were missing from their home.

The missing items included a gold chain, five rings, other jewelry and KD70. The complainant said the disappearance was noticed around the same time their Asian maid left the house without informing them.

The Egyptian expatriate accused the maid of stealing the jewelry and money and told police that he did not know her whereabouts. Security authorities recorded the complaint and referred it for investigation to verify the allegations.

The case later took another turn when it emerged that the maid had been arrested and referred to the Deportation Department after her sponsor had reported her missing, in addition to filing the theft complaint.
