KUWAIT CITY, March 15: The Appellate Court presided over by Judge Najib Al-Mulla cancelled the death sentence issued by the Court of First Instance against an Egyptian expatriate for smuggling hashish into the country. The court instead acquitted him. According to the testimony of the in-charge officer, a group of individuals were caught attempting to smuggle drugs into the country on a boat.

The arresting officers found the drugs tied to ropes inside the cabin of the boat. They confiscated 67 large pieces of hashish and two small pieces. The defense counsel Attorney Ali Al-Ali stressed the illegality of the arresting and searching procedures as they were not based on serious investigations. He added that the case documents did not include any evidences against his client.
