RIYADH, Apr 15: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested an Egyptian national in Makkah for posting fake advertisements offering permits to enter the Holy Sites and fraudulent Hajj services on social media. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
The arrest comes as Saudi authorities enforce stricter regulations for the upcoming Hajj season to ensure pilgrim safety. Under the new rules, only individuals with valid residency in Makkah or an official Hajj permit can enter the Holy Sites between April 13 and May 31.
Officials have urged the public to comply with regulations and report violations via emergency numbers, including 911 in major cities and 999 elsewhere in the Kingdom.
