KUWAIT CITY, Jun 8: As part of ongoing security operations, the Ministry of Interior, through the Criminal Security Sector, has arrested five individuals of Egyptian and Bangladeshi nationalities accused of stealing electrical cables with the intent to sell them for illicit gain.
According to authorities, the suspects were tracked and monitored before being apprehended in possession of various quantities of electrical cables, copper materials, and tools used for cutting wires. Upon questioning, they reportedly confessed to carrying out repeated thefts of electrical infrastructure and selling the stolen items for profit.
Investigations further led officers to a warehouse used to store the stolen goods. The facility, owned by a Kuwaiti citizen and rented to the suspects for 200 dinars, was found to be operating in violation of municipal regulations and fire safety requirements set by the Kuwait Fire Force.
Following the inspection, the Fire Force initiated legal procedures and ordered the closure of the warehouse due to safety violations. The suspects, along with the seized materials, have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action, while the Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to combating theft of public infrastructure and enforcing strict deterrent measures against offenders.
