CAIRO, Sept 2: Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, met with Mohamed Gaber Abou El Wafa, Egypt’s newly appointed ambassador to Kuwait, to discuss enhancing agricultural cooperation and investment between the two countries. Abou El Wafa is expected to begin his duties in Kuwait in the coming days.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed key areas of collaboration in agriculture and food security, with a focus on agricultural investment. Farouk described agriculture as one of Egypt’s most promising sectors, highlighting opportunities for Kuwaiti investors in land reclamation, poultry production, fish farming, and agricultural manufacturing.
The minister noted that the Egyptian government has made significant improvements to the investment climate, particularly in agriculture and food security, and proposed inviting Kuwaiti investors and experts to visit Egypt to explore opportunities firsthand.
Farouk also emphasized Egypt’s technical expertise in pest and rodent control, veterinary vaccines and medicines, and livestock production, suggesting these capabilities could be shared with Kuwait to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He highlighted the importance of increasing Egyptian agricultural exports to Kuwait, especially high-quality produce sought in international markets, and recommended organizing a visit by a Kuwaiti delegation to Egypt to enhance ties and explore additional opportunities.
Ambassador Abou El Wafa expressed his commitment to fostering closer relations between Egypt and Kuwait, stating that agriculture will be a key focus during his tenure. He praised Egypt’s advancements in the sector and its technical capabilities, underscoring the goal of translating discussions into concrete steps to boost trade and investment between the two nations.
