Ebola Scare in India: Woman from Uganda Isolated in Bengaluru

BENGALURU, May 27: Health authorities in India have placed a woman under isolation at a government hospital after she developed symptoms resembling Ebola following her return from Uganda, prompting precautionary monitoring and testing, according to officials.

The woman was admitted to the state-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital in Bengaluru after reporting mild body aches and other Ebola-like symptoms shortly after her travel from Uganda, news agency Reuters reported.

Hospital authorities said the patient is currently in stable condition and under close observation. A sample has been collected and sent to the National Institute of Virology for laboratory analysis, with test results still awaited.

In a statement, the Epidemic Diseases Hospital said the individual remains otherwise healthy, with only mild symptoms, and that all necessary isolation and precautionary protocols are being followed.

India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is coordinating with state health authorities and closely monitoring the situation. Officials said all public health measures are being implemented in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines as a precautionary step.

Authorities have not confirmed any Ebola infection, and further medical evaluation is ongoing.
