KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: Daoud Suleiman Marafi, the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, has officially announced a forthcoming ceremony to honor the achievements of our first national handball team. The team has successfully secured a spot in the World Cup finals, scheduled to take place in January 2025 across Croatia, Denmark, and Norway, following the attainment of a qualification card for Asia at the earliest opportunity.

Marafi, in a press release from the General Sports Authority, revealed ongoing coordination with the authority to determine financial rewards in line with Resolution No. 42 of 2023, which amends the provisions of Resolution No. 9 of 2018 pertaining to the list of athletes deserving recognition.

As per the resolution, each player will be granted an award of 5,000 dinars for their remarkable qualification for the World Cup. Additional rewards will be allocated if a player secures a medal in the Asian Cup, particularly after progressing to the semi-finals, adhering to the stipulated regulations.

Marafi expressed unwavering support for the handball players during the upcoming semi-final competitions, expressing confidence in their capability to stand on the podium and secure an Asian medal—an accomplishment that would further enrich Kuwaiti sports records on the international stage.

Highlighting the broader celebration, the Minister of Youth mentioned that aside from honoring the Kuwaiti handball team, champions from the Asian Games will also be acknowledged. Gold medalists in individual games will receive 10,000 dinars, silver medalists 7,000 dinars, and bronze medalists 5,000 dinars. The handball players who clinched the bronze medal in the Asian Games will also be honored with an amount of 2,000 dinars for each player.
