Dusty winds reduce visibility in parts of Kuwait: Meteorology Dept
Dusty conditions affect visibility in parts of Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Strong northwesterly winds stirred up dust across Kuwait on Saturday, leading to reduced horizontal visibility in some exposed areas, the Meteorological Department (MD) announced.

Speaking to KUNA, Director of the Meteorological Department Dhirar Al-Ali said the winds exceeded speeds of 50 kilometers per hour (kph), with weather maps and numerical models indicating the country is currently affected by an extension of a high-pressure system moving in from the northwest.

These brisk winds have also led to sea waves rising above six feet at times, Al-Ali added.

He noted that temperatures on Saturday are expected to range between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius for the minimum, and between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius for the maximum.

Al-Ali said the wind speeds are expected to gradually subside starting Saturday night, allowing dust levels to settle and horizontal visibility to improve.

Looking ahead, Sunday’s weather is forecast to be relatively hot during the day and humid, especially in coastal areas, with the evening turning moderate and humid in those same regions.

Al-Ali also indicated that the coming days will likely remain humid during nighttime in coastal areas due to a shift in wind direction toward the southeast.
