Dusty weather lowers visibility in Kuwait; conditions to improve tonight
Meteorology warns of dusty conditions and dropping temperatures in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: Kuwait is experiencing cloudy weather and suspended dust on Wednesday, leading to reduced horizontal visibility, which is expected to gradually improve during the evening, Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said.

Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country will be influenced by an extension of a high-pressure system, accompanied by a very cold and dry air mass. Light to moderate northwesterly winds, ranging from 10 to 35 kilometers per hour, will begin this evening and continue for the next five days.

He explained that the cold winds will cause a noticeable drop in temperatures, falling below three degrees Celsius in agricultural and desert areas, with a chance of frost in these regions. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will range between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius, resulting in generally cool to cold weather during the day and cold to very cold conditions at night.

Drivers on highways were urged to exercise caution due to reduced visibility on some roads, while individuals with asthma and allergies were advised to wear masks when going outside because of rising dust levels, especially with increased humidity.

Al-Ali also encouraged the public to follow weather updates through the Meteorological Department’s official website, mobile application, and social media accounts.
