Dust, Heat and Possible Thunderstorms Forecast Across Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Kuwait is expected to see relatively hot weather, active winds, blowing dust and a chance of scattered light rain — sometimes accompanied by thunder — from Thursday until Friday evening, according to the Meteorological Department.

Acting Director of the department Dharar Al-Ali said the country is being affected by an extension of a low-pressure system, along with a relatively hot air mass. Winds are expected to shift between northeasterly and northwesterly, ranging from light to moderate and becoming active at times.

Al-Ali warned that open areas may witness dust storms, while low and medium clouds are expected to increase, with chances of thunderstorms and scattered rain during the evening and night hours.

Thursday’s weather will be hot and partly to mostly cloudy , with northwesterly to northerly winds blowing at 12 to 40 km/h . There is a chance of scattered light rain and dust, especially in open areas.

The weather tonight will be mild and partly to mostly cloudy , with winds reaching 10 to 42 km/h , particularly along coastal areas. Scattered rain is possible and may be thundery at times, with dust also expected.

Friday will be warm and partly cloudy , with northwesterly to northerly winds between 15 and 40 km/h . Scattered rain, possibly thundery, may continue, with dust likely in open areas.

Friday evening is expected to be mild and partly cloudy , with northwesterly winds at 12 to 35 km/h and a chance of light scattered rain.

Saturday will be hot and partly cloudy , with light to moderate northwesterly to northerly winds ranging from 8 to 32 km/h .

Saturday night will remain mild and partly cloudy , with winds between 12 and 32 km/h .

Residents, especially motorists and sea-goers, are advised to remain cautious due to possible dust, reduced visibility, rough sea conditions and thundery rain in some areas.
