KUWAIT CITY, Dec 7: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a social media influencer of charges of verbal abuse and misuse of a smartphone for filming a dispute and exchange of accusations on a public road, after her lawyer, Inam Haidar, proved the lack of evidence and absence of any technical or verbal proof against her. Instead, the court convicted two young men, sentencing them to two weeks’ imprisonment, for damaging the influencer’s vehicle, committing an indecent act in public, and directing insulting language at her.

However, the court suspended their sentences for three years, on the condition that they provide a KD 300 bail bond and pledge to maintain good conduct and refrain from repeating the offence. According to the case details, the influencer’s vehicle was deliberately rammed by the two men after she swerved into their path. They verbally abused her, made obscene gestures, and one of them intentionally rammed her car, causing damage estimated at approximately KD 500.

The Public Prosecution had charged the third defendant (the social media influencer) with misusing a smartphone by filming the first defendant without his consent, and insulting the first and second defendants, based on a complaint filed by both parties. Lawyer Inam Haidar, representing her client in court, argued that the charges were unsubstantiated and lacked any technical or factual evidence to support the claims of filming or the alleged insults. She emphasized that the case file contained no evidence implicating her client, while the charges against the two young men were supported by evidence and circumstantial proof. After reviewing the case and hearing arguments, the court acquitted the third defendant of all charges.
