Dubai announces closures of main roads for New Year celebrations.

DUBAI, Dec 27: A senior official from the Dubai Police, Abdul Rehman Obaid Juma Al Falasi, announced that road closures for New Year celebrations will commence from 4 pm on December 31. Al Falasi, from the traffic department, urged residents and visitors heading to popular locations like the Downtown area to embark on their journeys early and consider using public transport.

Road closure timings, according to Al Falasi, are as follows:

  • Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: 4 pm
  • The upper level of the Financial Road: 8 pm (the lower level at 4 pm)
  • Al Asayel Road: 4 pm

Traffic from these routes will be redirected to the Sheikh Zayed Road. As preparations for New Year's Eve are underway across the emirate, the event committee's security and action plan covers 32 locations, including Hatta, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and Festival City.

To provide support, 30 tents have been stationed in these areas, offering resources such as food supplies, water, toilets, and lost-and-found services. The Event Preparation Committee, collaborating with partners like the Roads and Transport Authority, Civil Defence, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance, initiated planning three months ago.

With 55 internal and external partners, nearly 1,300 vehicles will be deployed to cover all celebration venues. Over 10,000 police officers and volunteers will be stationed across Dubai to assist the civil defense, RTA, and ambulances. Al Falasi advised the public to arrive early, use public transport, and stay updated on advisories through Dubai Police social media platforms.
