Drugs found with well-known personality

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: The Court of Appeals scheduled a session for Tuesday to deliberate on the appeal of a well-known personality who was sentenced to five years in prison with hard labor and fined KD5,000 for drug abuse after his arrest upon arrival at Kuwait International Airport.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with the possession of psychotropic substances, narcotics, hashish and cocaine with the intent of consuming such substances as he failed to prove that he is legally authorized to do so. During investigation at the prosecution, the defendant denied the charges. He disclosed that when he arrived from Cairo, he was arrested and searched at the airport, but the authorities found nothing. He was later referred to the Anti-Narcotics Department and then to the prosecution.
