Drug ‘sting’ sinks teeth into well-known dentist in Jahra

KUWAIT CITY, May 16: Officers from the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) in the Interior Ministry, led by Director of the department Brigadier General Mohammad Qabazard and his assistant, Brigadier General Sheikh Hamad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, arrested a well-known dentist in Jahra for the possession of cocaine and narcotic pills. A security source revealed details of the arrest to the newspaper, confirming that the anti-narcotics officers received information about the suspicious activities of the prominent dentist who had an undisclosed quantity of cocaine and narcotic pills in his possession. The source stated that this is part of ongoing efforts to track down drug dealers and users. The source added that based on this information, the officers set up an entrapment, which led to the arrest of the suspect in Salmiya. The source affirmed that the suspect and the seized contraband were referred to the concerned authorities.

In other news, the Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) foiled the activities of 15 individuals involved in nine separate cases. The suspects were found in possession of varying quantities of narcotics and intoxicants intended for trafficking and personal use, in addition to cash, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the seized items included 1,106 grams of hashish, 337 grams of methamphetamine (crystal meth), 255 grams of marijuana, 138 Lyrica capsules, 5 grams of heroin, 3 grams of Lyrica powder, four precision scales, and cash proceeds from drug trafficking. All suspects were referred with the seized items to the competent authorities for necessary legal action. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing intensive security operations to pursue drug traffickers and protect society from their dangers. It stressed the importance of community cooperation with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious activities related to the trafficking, distribution, or use of drugs and intoxicants.
