KUWAIT CITY, Mar 2:  The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, said a fragment from a drone intercepted during a security operation fell on one of the fuel tanks at the Doha West Power and Water Distillation Station, sparking a small fire.

Hayat stated that the station’s safety and security teams immediately responded in line with established procedures and emergency plans. The fire was quickly contained and brought under control, she added, and technical teams are now conducting inspections and assessments to ensure the safety of all units and equipment.

Hayat confirmed that the incident caused no injuries and was limited to minor material damage. Specialist ministry units continue to monitor the situation and implement precautionary measures, she said.

The ministry assured citizens and residents that the country’s electricity and water networks are operating normally and remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency. It urged the public to rely only on official channels for information.
