KUWAIT CITY, Apr 5: Kuwait’s key energy infrastructure came under drone attack on Sunday, as the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that its oil sector complex in the Shuwaikh area was targeted, triggering a fire and causing material damage to the facility. Authorities said emergency and firefighting teams responded immediately, evacuating the building as a precaution, while damage assessments and site security operations remain ongoing. No injuries were reported.

In a related development, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced that two power generation and water desalination plants were also struck by hostile drones, resulting in significant damage and the shutdown of two electricity-generating units. Officials said technical and emergency teams are working under coordinated response plans to maintain the stability of electricity and water supplies.

Authorities emphasized that safeguarding essential services remains a top priority, with teams operating around the clock to ensure continuity despite the attacks, as Kuwait intensifies precautionary measures amid escalating regional tensions.
