KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: Al Salmiya has reached an agreement with Croatian coach Ante Misha to take charge of the team for the remainder of the current season’s competitions.

Despite initially considering negotiations with Serbian coach Boris Bunjak, the majority of the club’s board members rejected him due to his lack of success with other Kuwaiti clubs. Consequently, the club has opted for Ante Misha.

The contract with Misha comes as a replacement for the former coach, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mashaan, who has joined Al-Qadisiya to lead the team, succeeding Muhammad Ibrahim, who stepped down for health reasons.

Misha is set to lead Al-Samawi’s training in the next two days, gearing up for the Emir’s Cup competitions scheduled to begin on January 26.

In a related development, the Al-Qadisiya Club delegation is embarking on a 10-day training camp in Manama, Bahrain, in preparation for their Amir Cup preliminary round clash against Yarmouk on January 27. Two friendly matches with Bahraini clubs are also on the agenda during the camp.

Al-Mashaan, previously an assistant to coach Dalibor at Al-Qadisiya, has an impressive track record, winning the Crown Prince Cup title in the 2017-2018 season. He has also coached Al-Jahra and Al-Nasr clubs and worked within the technical staff of Kuwait in previous periods.

Al-Mashaan visited coach Ibrahim, who expressed support for him as his successor in leading the team.

It is anticipated that star player Badr Al-Mutawa will miss the camp due to work commitments, continuing his training at the club. Meanwhile, former international goalkeeper Khaled Al-Rashidi has resumed training with the team after returning from his treatment trip in Germany.
