KUWAIT CITY, Sep 10: The Ministry of External Affairs of India has announced the appointment of Dr. Adarsh Swaika, currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Kenya.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry noted that Dr. Swaika, a seasoned diplomat and member of the Indian Foreign Service since 2002, will soon take up his new assignment in Nairobi. The move forms part of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its diplomatic presence in Africa, particularly in East Africa, where Kenya is regarded as a key political, economic, and commercial partner.
During his tenure in Kuwait, Dr. Swaika played a pivotal role in enhancing bilateral ties, focusing on economic and trade cooperation, education, healthcare, and the welfare of the large Indian expatriate community in the country.
With over two decades of diplomatic experience, Dr. Swaika has served in Indian missions in France, the United States, and Bangladesh, as well as in senior roles at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. He is widely recognized for his work in promoting investment, economic reforms, and international collaboration in energy and innovation.
His posting to Nairobi is expected to further consolidate India-Kenya relations, with both nations showing growing interest in expanding cooperation in renewable energy, agriculture, technological innovation, and maritime security.
