Doors of six NGOs ‘shut’
Minister of Social Affairs announces key changes to charitable associations' regulations.

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: In a move aimed at protecting the rights of beneficiaries and ensuring the integrity of institutional operations, Minister of Social, Family and Childhood Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah issued a decision to dissolve six non-governmental organizations (NGOs), reports Al- Seyassah daily.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Al-Huwailah stressed that the decision was taken after a thorough review of the administrative and financial reports and confirmation of observations, which necessitated taking legal measures. She affirmed the continuous commitment of her ministry to apply the law on everyone, asserting that the aim is to correct the course and improve performance, which will positively impact the quality of services provided to the community.

She stated that the ministry closely monitors and evaluates the performance of NGOs, and intervenes whenever necessary to guarantee compliance with the applicable regulations and bylaws. She called on all entities under the supervision of the ministry to fully abide by the regulatory controls and act responsibly to achieve public good and boost public trust in civil society work.

On the other hand, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial, Administrative and Cooperative Affairs at the ministry Dr. Sayed Issa announced the completion of tests for 48 supervisory positions in 18 cooperative societies, but the interviews have been postponed due to the current circumstances. He said this is a prelude to the third phase of the Kuwaitization of support positions, which will generate more than one thousand jobs for the citizens.
