Don’t Pay: Kuwait MOI Warns of Fake Traffic Fine Scams

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has warned motorists against fraudulent messages and websites claiming that recipients have outstanding traffic violations and demanding immediate payment of fines.

The ministry said the messages are scams and urged the public not to engage with links or websites from unknown sources.

The fraudulent notices typically claim that a traffic violation was detected by speed radar and threaten recipients with additional penalties if payment is not made within 48 hours. Some messages also falsely warn of judicial action, heavy fines, driving-license suspension and restrictions on vehicle-related transactions.

The ministry stressed that such messages and websites are not official and advised the public to rely only on authorized government channels to check traffic violations and make payments.

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and avoid providing personal or financial information through suspicious links or unofficial websites.
