KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: The Ministry of Social Affairs on Saturday reassured the public that the food situation across all cooperative societies remains stable, with sufficient supplies of goods and essential items available.
In a statement, the ministry said it is closely monitoring operations at cooperative societies and their branches nationwide to ensure consumers continue to receive optimal services.
The ministry confirmed that food products and water stocks are abundant, noting that cooperatives are operating at full capacity to meet the needs of shoppers.
It added that strategic reserves are being continuously monitored through a dedicated control room, in direct coordination with a representative from the Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry further stated that market activity is under close surveillance through security cameras linked to the control room to ensure smooth operations and maintain a safe and comfortable shopping environment.
Also, the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing food security and ensuring the smooth operation of cooperative societies across the country. The Union emphasized that it maintains direct and continuous coordination with all relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry of Social Affairs, to achieve institutional integration, maintain high levels of preparedness, and support the stability of the cooperative system.
The Union highlighted that all circulars and instructions are communicated through official channels, including dedicated WhatsApp groups and email addresses for each cooperative society, to ensure timely receipt, approval, and implementation. Cooperative boards are urged to instruct their executive teams to comply fully with these directives, implementing them accurately and responsibly to avoid legal consequences and ensure smooth market operations.
Citizens and residents were urged to exercise social responsibility by purchasing only what they need, avoiding panic buying or hoarding, and refraining from crowding markets. The Union stressed that such practices help maintain the steady flow of goods and protect food security for all.
Authorities reassured the public that strategic stock levels remain stable and that goods are available in normal quantities. Central markets continue to operate 24 hours a day to meet consumer needs, leaving no reason for panic or concern.
