Don’t click fake traffic links

KUWAIT CITY, May 17: Director of the Security Media Department at the Interior Ministry Colonel Othman Al- Mansouri clarified that reports circulating on some social media platforms about the text messages sent to citizens and residents demanding payment of traffic fines, exploiting the Unified Gulf Traffic Week and claiming to be offering discounts, are false. Al-Mansouri warned that these messages are fraudulent and aimed at committing electronic fraud. He said the department urges everyone not to respond to these messages or click the attached links.

He stressed the need to use official payment channels, including ‘Sahel’ and ministry application, in addition to the service centers and traffic departments in various governorates He added that electronic fraud attempts usually increase during summer and holidays, when people book chalets or purchase travel tickets through fake websites, thus falling victim to scams. He affirmed that the ministry is taking legal measures against websites involved in fraudulent activities. He also stated that the department is continuing its campaigns to raise public awareness on the importance of following security guidelines to prevent cybercrimes and fraud.
