KUWAIT CITY, Sep 15: The Ministry of Interior has warned citizens and residents, particularly travelers, against carrying luggage, bags, parcels, containers or other belongings belonging to third parties to or from Kuwait.
The ministry said drug and psychotropic substance smugglers may exploit travelers by concealing prohibited materials in items they ask others to carry. It stressed that travelers could face legal accountability for any prohibited substances found in their possession, regardless of their relationship with or the reasons given by the person handing over the items.
The warning follows the arrest of three travelers in separate cases after narcotics and psychotropic substances were found concealed inside medicine containers. Initial investigations found that the travelers had received the containers outside Kuwait for delivery to individuals inside the country, believing they contained medicines. The suspects and seized items were referred to the competent authorities for legal action and further investigations.
