Doha gears up for first Gulf Mini Football Cup

DOHA, March 2: The Qatari capital, Doha, is set to stage the inaugural Gulf Mini Football Cup from April 1–5, 2026, under the supervision of the International Minifootball Federation (IMF). The tournament will unite national teams from across the GCC in a competitive showcase highlighting the rapid development and rising popularity of minifootball in the region.

Organizers confirmed that all Gulf nations will participate in the event, which aims to strengthen regional sporting ties and provide a fresh competitive platform to boost the profile and growth of the game throughout the Gulf.

The official draw will be held on the 7th of this month at Al Aziziyah Boutique Hotel within the Aspire Zone Foundation. Aspire Zone will also host the matches on its state-of-the-art pitches, renowned for their world-class infrastructure and advanced organizational capabilities, ensuring a high-standard event.

Mohammed Al-Mohannadi, Qatar international player and tournament general manager, emphasized that Qatar continues to reinforce its standing as a global hub for major sporting events. He praised Aspire Zone Foundation for its strong backing and efficient organizational preparations.

“Qatar has a long track record of successfully hosting sporting competitions,” he said. “We appreciate the cooperation and support of Aspire Zone Foundation in staging this tournament, which gives us full confidence in delivering a championship that reflects the stature of Gulf sports.”
