KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The Ministry of Interior has continued its intensive security operations following the recent arrest of a criminal gang involved in the theft and smuggling of petroleum products, particularly diesel, outside the country. Authorities are still working to uncover all aspects of the case and to take strict legal action against everyone involved.
According to investigations conducted by the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Jahra Governorate Investigation Department, it was discovered that several of the seized containers had already been issued customs declarations and had completed inspection procedures. These containers were reportedly prepared for shipment and loading onto a vessel. However, further scrutiny revealed that they remained stored inside the Al-Abdali farm, and that the legally required procedures for exporting the containers had not been completed. This confirmed the existence of manipulation and falsification of customs data, including misrepresentation of the nature and description of the shipments.
In a related development, security forces discovered ten additional containers filled with diesel products in the Al-Khuwaisat area. The containers were immediately seized after being found on state-owned land. Authorities had previously issued an order to withdraw the site from an individual who had been allocated the land as a family rest house. The individual, however, violated the order and illegally rented the location to several companies for use as warehouses under formal contracts. Investigations revealed that these companies were unaware that the land was state-owned and that leasing it was strictly prohibited.
As a result of ongoing security efforts, four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. All necessary legal procedures have been completed, and the suspects have been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its firm stance against any violation of the law, stressing that it will confiscate any assets used for purposes other than those for which they were legally designated. The ministry warned that it will take decisive action against anyone who attempts to tamper with state resources or undermine the national economy, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy toward such crimes.
