KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has issued a strong reminder of the severe penalties associated with narcotics-related crimes, highlighting that several offenses can lead to life imprisonment under national law. In an awareness notice released by the ministry, authorities outlined that anyone who joins an organized criminal group involved in crimes related to narcotics or psychotropic substances faces the harshest punishment.
The ministry also emphasized that planting narcotic or psychotropic substances on another person—whether to falsely accuse them of possession or to conceal the substances without their knowledge—can result in life imprisonment, particularly if the act leads to a final judgment against the victim or if the offender is a member of the police force.
Additionally, the notice warns that forcing another person to consume narcotic or psychotropic substances, or administering such substances into their body without consent, is treated as a major criminal offense. Life imprisonment applies if the act is committed to facilitate another crime, results in the victim becoming addicted, or causes serious harm or permanent disability.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that these strict penalties are part of Kuwait’s broader efforts to combat drug-related crimes, protect society, and deter methods used by criminals to exploit or harm others.
