KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is in the process of moving forward with awarding two tenders worth more than KD31.22 million, reports Al-Anba daily. The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved the directorate’s request to award the general design and supervision of the middle runway, cargo aircraft parking, VIP aircraft parking and support infrastructure in Kuwait International Airport at a value of KD6.45 million.

Meanwhile, CAPT postponed the awarding of the tender for the operation, management, training, monitoring, maintenance, control, improvements, and development of air navigation services at the airport, estimated at KD24.77 million. Meanwhile, the Kuwait Ports Authority has been given more than KD 22 million in compensation by several firms found to have committed legal infractions, it said on Monday, citing a court decision on the matter. The measure aims to clamp down on any practice that is deemed detrimental to the management of public funds, besides putting in place a business environment that is conducive for foreign investment, it said in a statement, commending a court decision to resolve the matter. Operating beyond the license date expiry was among the violations committed by one of these companies, added the statement, hailing the court decision as a victory for the rule of law.
