KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Detectives have launched a search for five unidentified suspects accused of assaulting and stabbing a Kuwaiti citizen shortly after he left evening prayers near a mosque in the Al-Riqa area.
According to security sources, the victim, a man in his thirties, told authorities that he did not know the attackers. He said the incident began with a verbal altercation involving one of the suspects before the others allegedly restrained him, assaulted him, and stabbed him. The group then fled the scene.
The victim submitted a medical report that was added to the case file. The report showed that he suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to both his left and right hands, as well as a fracture to the back of his eighth right rib. He also underwent surgery to stop bleeding caused by the injuries.
The case has been registered as a felony, and the Public Prosecution has been notified. The Deputy Public Prosecutor ordered the case to be officially recorded and assigned detectives to carry out the necessary investigations, identify the suspects, arrest them, and determine the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
Authorities are also working to establish whether any other individuals were present at the scene when the incident took place.
A security source said the arrest of the suspects would help reveal the real motive behind the assault, including whether it was linked to an attempted robbery or stemmed from other reasons. Investigations are ongoing to track down the suspects and obtain their statements.
