KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: British Ambassador to Kuwait Qudsi Rasheed revealed that the joint training exercise ‘Desert Warrior 9’ is a manifestation of the strong defense relationship between Kuwait and Britain. Speaking at the conclusion of the joint exercise conducted by the Kuwait Army and the British military mission under the patronage of Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwait Army, Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan, Rasheed stated, “the joint training exercise in an operational environment that simulates real-world challenges proved the efficiency, discipline, and strong cooperation between the two forces.” He pointed out that such exercises are vital for improving interoperability, boosting mutual trust, and supporting the defense partnership based on a shared commitment to maintain regional security and stability.

He expressed his deep appreciation to all military personnel involved in the exercise, and commended the exceptional level of cooperation and hospitality of the Kuwaiti side, which reflects the strength of bilateral relations. In addition, British Defense Attaché Captain Neil Marriott (Royal Navy) considers ‘Desert Warrior 9’ an affirmation of the strength and depth of the Kuwaiti-British defense partnership, which is built on professionalism, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to ensuring readiness. He said the closing demonstration during the ‘VIP Day’ showcased the advanced operational proficiency of the participating forces and the vital role of high-level training in developing capabilities and guaranteeing operational preparedness.
He pointed out that training is the core of the evolving strategy of the Kuwait Army and joint exercises contribute significantly to strengthening partnership, enhancing interoperability, and creating a lasting impact. Several dignitaries attended the highprofile exercise, including Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Mishal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimer Al-Fahad, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwait Army Major General Sabah Al-Jaber, British Assistant Chief of the Defense Staff Major General John Swift, senior commanding officers at the Kuwaiti and British armed forces, and officials in the Ministry of Oil and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
