KUWAIT CITY, Dec 6: As part of intensified efforts by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, to combat drug-related crimes and dismantle smuggling and trafficking networks, the General Directorate for Drug Control has delivered a major blow to organized narcotics operations, seizing large quantities of drugs and preventing their distribution within the country.
According to official details, the operation was launched following precise security intelligence indicating that two Bedoun suspects were running a criminal network to store, process, and prepare narcotics for trafficking. Investigations revealed that one of the suspects is currently serving a life sentence in Central Prison for drug trafficking and was allegedly coordinating the illegal activity from inside the facility.
In response, a specialized field team was immediately formed. One of the suspects was tracked to the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area, where he was placed under close surveillance before being arrested. Further investigations led authorities to a private camp belonging to the suspect in the Al-Salmi desert, which was being used as a storage and preparation site for narcotics.
A search of the camp resulted in the seizure of large and varied quantities of illegal substances and related materials, including 40 kilograms of chemical substances, 60 kilograms of Lyrica powder, 8 kilograms of marijuana, 500 grams of hashish, five liters of crystal meth, 300 liters of chemical liquids, and 7 kilograms of chemical paper. Authorities also confiscated two precision weighing scales along with a range of tools and equipment used to process and prepare drugs for distribution.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that the seized materials were intended for trafficking. The suspects, along with all confiscated substances and equipment, were taken into custody and referred to the competent investigative authorities to complete legal procedures.
The General Directorate for Drug Control stressed that its efforts to combat narcotics remain ongoing and uncompromising, reaffirming its commitment to pursuing anyone who threatens society’s security or attempts to spread this dangerous scourge. It emphasized that law enforcement agencies maintain round-the-clock surveillance and monitoring operations, and that the reach of the law will extend to offenders wherever they may be.
