Deputy Amir congratulates Al Arabi Club on winning the Amir Football Cup (2019-2020)

KUWAIT, 9-21 (KUNA) – His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of congratulations to Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Ashour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Arabi Sports Club, in which His Highness expressed his sincere congratulations on the victory of the football team in the final match of the Amir Cup for the sports season 2019-2020, which was held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Monday evening, September 21, 2020, between the Kuwait Sports Club and Al Arabi Sports Club.

Al-Arabi club was crowned as winners of the 58th edition of the Amir Cup Football Championship season (2019-2020), beating Kuwait with a score of (1-2) after they tied in the original two halves with a score of (1 -) 1).

The Kuwait SC players completely ruled during the first half of the match, which was held at Jaber International Stadium, to score the first goal of the match through Abdullah Al-Buraiki in the 26th minute of a fixed ball amid Al-Arabi’s reservation to block the opponent’s attacks.

In the second half, Al-Arabi managed to equalize through Henry in the 83rd minute despite shortage of a player due to Ali Atik’s who was sent out on 66th minute. The second half ended with a score of (1 -1) to which the game went into extra time.

Al-Arabi managed to get their hands on most expensive cups title, after substitute Ali Khalaf through with brilliant goal. The Amir Football Cup competition was launched in the year 1961-1962, Al-Qadisiyah and Al-Arabi won 16 times each, Kuwait Club 14 times, while Kazma won the championship seven times, Salmiya and Yarmouk won the title twice and Fahaheel Club once.
