KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: Kuwait City Traffic Patrols launched an intensive crackdown targeting delivery motorcycles and vehicles caught parking or driving on pedestrian sidewalks, in a renewed push to safeguard public safety.

The campaign, carried out, comes amid growing concerns over motorists using sidewalks to bypass traffic congestion — a practice authorities warn poses a direct threat to pedestrians, particularly the elderly, children, and people with special needs.

Officials said sidewalks are designated strictly for pedestrian use and are not alternative routes for vehicles under any circumstances. The General Traffic Department stressed that such violations constitute clear breaches of traffic law and will be met with firm legal action without leniency.

The operation also aims to reinforce traffic discipline, regulate road movement and curb reckless behaviors that endanger lives and disrupt public order. Authorities confirmed that similar field campaigns will continue across various areas to track down violators and take the necessary legal measures against them.
